Run Forest Run - A 10km run through woodlands · 26 October 2014 ·

Feedback has been working for over 20 years with rural communities in Madagascar, addressing urgent issues such as malnutrition & access to water whilst working towards a sustainable future. In 2013, Feedback launched the Treemad programme, which will help communities plant millions of trees.

Story

I am not a runner, by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, those of you that know me, know I can barely run around the block. But my brother Josh recently spent 6 months in Madagascar volunteering for Feedback Madagascar and this, is his event. Josh is a relentless charity fundraiser who, every year, gives weeks of his time and energy helping to raise money to support small charities. He is my inspiration - and while I hate nothing more than running, I am doing this as thanks to him for being his wonderful, forever selfless self.

Tree Mad is an initiative run by Feedback Trust - it's a massive effort to re-forest Madagascar, which has lost around 90% of its rainforest.

Now, in case you think that there are more worthy, and closer-to-home causes than this one on other side of the planet...

...Did you know that the rainforests are quite literally the lungs of the earth? They are so efficient at absorbing carbon that they provide 40% of the oxygen we breathe, even here in the UK. That's a massive amount of clean air. Without the rainforest, we'd be in rather a lot of trouble.

I quite like breathing, and I think you do too, so if we can plant even a few more trees to provide clean air for us, our children, and our children's children, for this reason alone it will be well worth my hour or so of pain.

Please will you dig deep, and sponsor me? Thanks :)  xxx
