As some of you will know, I have recently moved to Bangalore and am working for the Baale Mane Trust here. I have lived in the Baale Mane home for a month now, and I can see first-hand the long-lasting impact that it has on the lives of the girl children here. I am told regularly that now I live here I have 60 sisters, as well as my 2 brothers back in the UK!

Baale Mane provides long-term support and shelter for girl children rescued from domestic service situations, homelessness, orphans or extreme poverty. Extra-curricular activities such as life skills programmes and creative training and projects ensure the holistic development of each individual girl child. The ethos of nurturing and resourcing each girl child to lead a self-sustaining life provides them with the tools to be self-sufficient and independent members of society. 

So, I am running the TCS 10k in Bangalore to raise money for the Campus Extension Project (to read more about it, see this link: http://www.baalemane.org/donate/campus-extension-project/) which aims to provide space for 20 more girl children in more age-appropriate and smaller dormitories, separate rooms for the live-in staff, as well as a yoga pavilion and sick room.
