Nerve Tumours UK provides support and information, as well as campaigns and raises awareness on behalf of over 26,500 people in the UK who have NF, the group name for Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), NF2-related-Schwannomatosis (NF2) and Schwannomatosis (SWN).

Story

This year I am challenging myself to do things I never thought I would have the courage to do. It's more than just a lifestyle choice I've made, there is a very special reason behind it.

For all who do not know me and the wonderful family I have the pleasure of being a part of, will not of had their hearts touched by the strongest man I know.

Stephen Cook, Uncle Steve to us, was born in 1956 with a condition called Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder affecting the nerve tissue. Today it's one of the worlds most common neuro-genetic conditions with over 25,000 people affected in the UK alone.

Uncle Stephen was one of the earlier ones diagnosed with the condition and was told that he wouldn't see past the age of 14.

Being the fighter that he is and never allowing the life that was given to him to stop him from being who he wanted to be, Stephen survived past his 14th birthday.

Now at the ripe old age of 57,ready to celebrate his 58th birthday on the 14th of May, Stephen has touched the lives of many people throughout the years.

A man of faith and one never to let life's obstacles get in the way of living, Stephen has worked and paid his way, even after having his leg amputated in his 30's, he still got on the bus to the underground everyday to take his place on the newspaper stand! He was also a season ticket holder at White Hart Lane, supporting his pride and glory Tottenham Hotspurs. Sat in the East stand, seat 87, row 10 , he climbed every match up the steps to take his place among the fans. Unfortunately now that Stephen no longer has the ability to walk, he's had to move to the one place he held of the longest, the disabled section. However he still goes to the games when he is well enough to attend.

The reason behind this page and me asking you for help, is because in October 2014 Stephen Cook was diagnosed with Cancer that has already spread in his body.

Stephen has spent his entire life saving his money because he knew one day he would need looking after, and not one to take hand outs, his only frivalous spend was his season ticket every year.

Stephen doesn't need your money! However raising awareness and creating funding to educate people in all area's about this condition is what we are asking you to help with.

Any amount helps and the lives you can change will fill your heart with the true meaning of life.

If your feeling like you would like to be a bigger part of this cause then please look into The Neuro Foundation Memberships and remember, all it takes is one person to begin the domino effect to a brighter future.

Are you that person...... My Uncle Stephen is x
