hunts 10k · 16 June 2013
Having gone from couch to 10k over the last 8 months, my next goal is to compete in my first race, the Huntingdon 10K on the 16th June and I'm taking this opportunity to help raise some sponsorship as well.
Watching my children training at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, there is an obvious problem; the competition for space and watching my son learning to do basic moves while Olympic class athletics are working alongside on their program is a common sight.
That everyone in the Gym manages to avoid each other is a testament to the professional way the Gym is run. But to give everyone space to learn and train the Gym needs some more space, so they are embarking on a £100,000 extension.
HGC has helped to train several noteworthy Olympians; Daniel Keatings, Marissa King and most famously Louis Smith. HGC have won 3 Olympic, 4 World & over 20 European Medals and they also run activities for community; everyone from babies to adults, freestyle and disability groups.
So if you enjoyed the Olympics, (or strictly come dancing for that matter ) then please give a little to help the club train the next generation of athletes and roll on the success of 2012 into Rio 2016 and beyond!
Even if you can’t spare a bit, please share this so others can help is they wish.
PS, I’m turning 40 a few days before the race, call a birthday present !
many thanks
tony
