Story
Many of you will know that my late husband Roger Thorne died from a brain tumour on September 10th 1999 and I have decided for his 10 year anniversay which was September 2009 last year to run the London Marathon 2010. ( Am I mad!....YES I FLIPPIN AM!)
I know what you are all thinking!... Me, running, No! shopping and socialising? yes! ... but hey this is a very good cause!
My son Guy is helping me with my training and he takes me running (when he can fit me in with his social life!) as well as going on my own . I also do 4 lessons of boxing a week with the lovely guys at Horsham Boxing club and 4 gym sessions a week to keep the fitness up, Ja and Kyle are of course helping with their comments (not funny guys!) and they too will be helping support this good cause.Plus they are a bit gutted that their mother is fitter than all of them at the moment!
Training is in fulll swing and have just completed a first half marathon.
I have had a few injuries on the way mainly strains so lots of physio, accupunture and altra sound by Jo my lovely physio.
I have at present completly split the large muscle in my groin now so am going into hospital to be put out to have cortisone injections so you can imagine the pain! Thank god they are putting me to sleep! hopefully this injury will have healed enough for me to complete the run. if not then the run will be posponed untill ive healed and will completed it at a later date.
I have set up a Just giving page up to raise as much money as possible so please please dontate as its for a such a good cause. There are many more people out there with brain tumours who possibly could be saved by getting this money for research and care. Unfortunatley my Roget wasnt one of them and is sadly still missed as if it was yesterday.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
