Story

OK, so Foot & Mouth in Surrey may have cancelled the Windsor 1/2 Marathon but it hasn't stopped us from raising more money for this worthy charity!

We are now running the Clapham 10km so please did deep and sponsor us online. Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: AVERT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

380,000 children die of AIDS every year.

We are raising money for AVERT -

AVERT is an international HIV/AIDS organisation. Through HIV/AIDS education, research, support and care, it brings help to people around the world. Its projects prevent people from becoming infected wtih HIV and improve life for those who are already living with HIV/AIDS.

Avert's admin costs are already met, so 100% of any donations go directly to their HIV and AIDS work.

We have earmarked the money we raise to the following AVERT project:

Sisonke - "Coming Together"

Sisonke is a large community project funded by AVERT, based in Kei Road, South Africa (a rural, low income area with a high HIV prevalence). The project funds 10 community groups, who provide help for HIV positive people to access treatment, care for children orphaned or severely affected by HIV and AIDS, and they help to make sure children and HIV positive people get enough food.

AVERT funds an AIDS treatment education worker, who helps people overcome difficulties such as the understanding of the treatment (because of low literacy levels), and awareness about access. Food and care for children is done by the community working together. In fact the name the name of the project, "Sisonke", means coming together, or working together. Community groups make sure children seriously affected by HIV/AIDS get to school in the mornings, and when school ends, they cook for the children in groups, and supervise the children doing their homework. For this they need things like a cooking stove and large pots, gardening tools, and education in how to grow vegetables. AVERT’s funding enables groups to get the things they need and so provide care for hundreds of children who have been orphaned or are seriously affected by HIV and AIDS. copywrite. Avert.

Once again, please dig deep and show your support, for us and for AVERT!

Many thanks for your support!
