Trevor Ashwin

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Trevor was diagnosed in late March 2015 with metastatic oesophageal cancer. Although the prognosis was poor from the start, he loved life so fiercely that he did not relinquish it lightly. Despite appalling suffering at times, he always found beauty and joy in the natural world; in his family; in his many passions. Music, art and poetry were especially vivid for him, and he also loved railways, cricket, politics, spirituality, philosophy history and more. But beyond this, he was a wonderful example of a human being: gentle, kind, thoughtful and always eager to see both sides of any dispute.
An archaeologist by training, specialising in prehistory, Trevor's knowledge and skills will be very much missed by his former colleagues, and his gentle humanity by all who knew him.
During Trevor's illness, we were helped immensely by the wonderful local cancer charity, Star Throwers. We immediately became part of the Star Throwers 'family', where free advice from a doctor and wellbeing therapies are only part of what is offered to cancer sufferers and their carers. At Star Throwers, the kettle is always on and the open fire always glowing. I would like to invite donations to this very worthy cause, so that others may experience the same love, care and invaluable advice as we have done.
