Adidas Women's 5K Challenge 2009 · 6 September 2009 ·

Leading the way to a better quality of life for everyone severely affected by mental illness.

Story

Hi everyone….This will be my seventh Ladies Challenge….I had a break for a couple of years because of a dodgy leg…but …In January  I received a new knee so I am all ready for the challenge!!

My first Challenge in 2001, I ran…..then it went to a jog… a quick walk… a walk… then on my final Challenge I staggered…

This year because I am now… Bionic Trina…sadly I am only allowed to walk….I might end up staggering again but I will finish and I will do my very best so please try to sponsor me ….

The money I raise will be divided 50/50 between Rethink and of course my carers group….

I am the coordinator of Braintree Rethink Carers Support Group, we have a great wealth of knowledge between us, we help and support each other, understand what each other has been through or going through. You can express how you feel and nobody will judge you we are very passionate in what we do for the group, we make awareness to the general public about mental health, speak out for better mental health for carers and our loved ones. We want our voices heard, we want to make a difference……..and we will…..

We also have Braintree Rethink Art Group for all those that suffer with mental illness they are welcome to come along and enjoy an afternoon of art, crafts, chat & lots of laughter……

I am on Rethinks Eastern Regional Committee too so I am passionate about trying to raise  awareness to make people understand what it is like to live and cope with a severe mental illness day after day.

I have been a carer for the last 18 years to my son who has schizophrenia so I do understand what it is like living with mental illness.

So please….. Rethink & My Carers Group need your money and support…..

Many thanks   love Trina xx

Rethink helps over 48,000 people every year through services, support groups and by providing information on mental health problems.  They give a voice to people affected by severe mental illness and campaign for change, working to eliminate one of the last great stigmas of our modern age, mental illness.  Please help me raise £600 for Rethink and my carers group by sponsoring me on Justgiving.  Your sponsorship will allow Rethink to do some of the following important work:

£100 could provide one of Rethink’s support groups with essential leaflets and posters for a year.

£250 could pay for Rethink staff to meet with an MP to talk to them about the recent Mental Health Bill.

£500 could support a group of people for over a month to give mutual support and share experiences with other people in a similar situation.

£1,000 could pay for an online campaign so that Rethink’s activists can email their local newspaper and demand more positive mental health coverage.

£2,500 could enable Rethink advice staff to send out essential publications for six months, ensuring people have the vital information to hand.

£5,000 could pay for 285 calls to Rethink’s National Advice Service – a national advice line that ensures people have constant access to vital advice, information and advocacy.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Rethink gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now, help me raise £600 for Rethink and my carers group please forward this link to any of your friends, family and work colleagues!
