This fundraiser has come about at the request of our Prefect Finn; "I’m writing to you today to make you aware of a charity event that will be taking place on Wednesday the 20th of October. It is a charity called the ‘Pink Ribbon Foundation’ which is a grant-making trust with a mission to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities which relieve the needs of people who are suffering from or have been affected by breast cancer. Cancer is a condition which many people around the world are affected by, not just the people fighting the disease but also those who are family and friends of the loved ones suffering. The reason we have chosen to raise money for breast cancer is because it is the most common type of cancer which affects nearly 60,000 people in the UK per year and it is very close to a lot of peoples hearts. By supporting ‘The Pink Ribbon Foundation’ we as a community can help those who are fighting this awful disease and can help to make a difference.
Wednesday will be named ‘On Wednesday’s we wear pink’ from the classic film ‘Mean Girls’ in which we will be all be wearing pink and donating £2 each to either our form tutor or to prefects going round and collecting the money to give to our teachers before we donate it. Below is the link to ‘The Pink Ribbon Foundation’ where you can look more in depth in what they do as a charity. Also below is the link to the merchandise which you can buy to wear on the day if you would wish to do so. Cancer has affected so many people around the world and by doing this we will be fighting back against cancer to try and stop more families and getting from getting hurt.
