On 23 October an Earthquake struct Eastern Turkey.  The 7.2 magnitude quake left 2,200 buildings shattered, over 4000 people injured and over 600 people dead. Those who did survive are facing nights sleeping outside in freezing temperatures.

With the help of Sheffield RAG the University of Sheffield Turkish Society have launched an emergency appeal to help those affected by the earthquake and the worsening weather conditions.

All of the money donated will be going to the British Red Cross Turkey Earthquake Appeal. Your donation will help to proovide tents, stoves, sleeping bags, food and water.

Throughout the week there will be bake sales and stalls around the union to raise awareness and funds of the disaster and all of the money from the pink tins in the union will go towards the appeal.
