Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

Most of you know and some of you don't, but my amazing mum has Muscular Dystrophy FSH. A muscle wasting disease that effects her everyday and has progressively gotten worse, but each day she powers on like the superwoman she is. A very select few of you know, but I went through the process to find out for myself. In January 2015 I got the tests results back and found that I have got the FSH gene. Currently the gene is dormant, however this now means I am a carrier and I may possibly pass it down myself.

There is no cure for FSH. But the Muscular Dystrophy campaign continues to research to find a cure. While doing this they offer support to people effected by muscular dystrophy of all types. So while I still can I want to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy campaign to continue to find that all important cure.

My Dad has previously done tough mudder, but I haven't, in fact I have never done anything close to tough mudder. I have always been a very unfit person. Last November I decided this needed to change, if the gene was going to effect me, then I was going to start putting a fight up and I was hopefully already one step ahead. Tough mudder is most likely going to be one of the hardest things I have ever done but my training has started and I am going to complete it.

So that's my story. My dad has always supported me in everything I do and he is going to be right by my side throughout this, he will (At times literally!) be carrying me through tough mudder.
