UCA 2012-2014 Charity Partnership with Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children:

UCA have chosen NICFC as the sole charity to benefit from our fundraising activity for 3 years.  This is a fantastic local organisation supporting families at a most difficult time, when a child has been diagnosed with cancer.

Social responsibility has always been at the heart of community pharmacy from the largest groups, both national and local, to local independents in rural and urban areas.  We all support our local communities, a unique selling point of community pharmacy and a benefit that should be highlighted with key stakeholders such as the public, our politicians and commissioners.

NICFC are a very high profile local charity with very well developed social media and PR skills.  It also has excellent relationships with key players who have influence over our pharmacy contract; Andrew McCormack, Edwin Poots and Jim Wells to name a few.  Indeed Edwin Poots and his wife were guests at the NICFC Titantic Ball in May 2012 which raised over £100,000.

We have set ourselves a target to raise at least £50,000 within community pharmacy in Northern Ireland.

In the first couple of months, pharmacies raised over £2,000 by simply selling pens!   After just ten months of fundraising, we surpassed £28,000 !!!  Our target is easily attainable, if we all support the campaign, by each doing just one small thing.
