In March 2020, I will be taking on the massive challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for the British Heart Foundation in my father's name. 

As many of you know last April I lost my dad due to a heart attack. He was the smartest and most idealistic person I've ever known. It was unexpected and it was heartbreaking. Being far makes it harder to process some things, running and fundraising on his name is the way I found to pay tribute to my dad and hopefully help other dads live longer. 

Research has given us machines that can restart hearts, the ability to fix arteries in tiny babies, the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with, and so much more. However, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the number 1 cause of death globally, taking an estimated 17.9 million lives each year. This represents 1 in 4 deaths in the UK and in Uruguay. They cause heartbreak on every street. And that’s why the research work is as urgent and vital as ever.

En marzo 2020, voy a tomar el desafío de correr la media maratón de Londres por la Fundación del Corazón Británica en nombre de mi padre. 

Como muchos sabrán el pasado abril perdí a mi papá por un ataque cardiaco. Era la persona más inteligente e idealista que conocí. Fue inesperado y muy difícil. Estar lejos hace que procesar algunas cosas sea más difícil, correr y recaudar en su nombre es la forma que encontré yo de rendirle homenaje y a su vez  poner mi grano de arena para que otros papás vivan más tiempo. 

La investigación nos ha dado máquinas que pueden revivir corazones, la habilidad de arreglar arterias en bebitos, el poder de darle un corazón a alguien que nació sin y tanto más. Sin embargo, las enfermedades cardiovasculares son la causa número uno de muerte a nivel global, llevándose un estimado de 17.9 millones de vidas cada año. En uruguay, 1 de cada 4 muertes se deben a esto. Es por esto que el trabajo de investigación sigue siendo tan urgente y vital. 

Las donaciones de la gente han llevado a la Fundación del Corazón Británica así de lejos. Cada descubrimiento que han hecho fue fundado por gente como vos y yo.
