Story
In February 2020, following a routine blood test, our lovely mum was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.
Mum underwent 6 months of intensive chemotherapy, mostly as an inpatient at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and in August received a stem cell transplant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham from an anonymous German donor.
Despite giving it everything she had and demonstrating true stoicism, mum died on December 29, just 10 months after her diagnosis.
Due to Covid restrictions, only 24 people, including immediate family, can attend mum’s funeral. Some friends have asked us how and where they can donate some money in mum’s name in lieu of a collection so we have set up this page for those who wish to do so.
Mum endured nearly 10 months in hospital with no friends or family allowed to visit, something it is difficult for us to bear as she was such a loved and loving person. We want some good to come from mum’s death so any money raised on this page will go to Cure Leukaemia and the funding of Specialist Research Nurses to administer pioneering blood cancer therapies.
If you are in a position to donate and honour mum’s memory, we would be very grateful.
Thank you,
Charlotte and Jamie
