We are a leading baby charity working to save babies' lives and support families

Story

Hi my name is vaughen and myself and my friends have decided to do the three peak challenge in 24 hours!! i have chosen to do my walk for SFID, These are a cot death charity and this runs very close to my hart as my sister died of cot death as a baby. People like this charity are around to help people such as my own family deal with there loss. I have also chosen these as the awareness for such a charity is very little.

Cot death is a term commonly used to describe a sudden and unexpected infant death that is initially unexplained.  The equivalent medical term is 'sudden unexpected death in infancy' (SUDI). Some sudden and unexpected infant deaths can be explained by a thorough postmortem examination and other investigations. Cot deaths that remain unexplained after a thorough examination are usually registered as sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Sometimes other terms like sudden infant death, sudden unexpected death in infancy (SUDI) or unascertained may be used. cot death can affect any baby, but certain babies are more at risk, namely premature and low birth-weight babies and boys, and later babies born to mothers who are still young. More than 300 babies died suddenly and unexpectedly in the UK in 2009 making cot death the largest kind of death in babies over one month old.
