Story
Hi There!!
Thanks for making it this far and visiting my page,
Im so excited and terrified IT IS THE DAY OF THE ABSIEL...... iv actually been really sneaky and kept secret the amount that iv raised offline.... you know the traditional method of a sponsorship form and its a little more than £30 hehe, Considering my target was just 200 iv done very well indeed (pat on the back to myself!!!) but in all seriousness i just cant believe how generous you all have been i am soooo thankful for all your support for both myself and most importantly CLIC Sargent!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So now you've heard all the technical blurb, Im really hoping you will join me in supporting this FANTASTIC charity........
Getting involved in this fundraiser means a great deal to me. Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. October 31st 2008 was my day....... and since then my life has never been the same.
Throughout my treatment i have had continual support from Clic Sargent! Soon after my diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia i was getting advice on finances and had all the help i needed to sort out some type of benefit whilst on treatment. They were able to take much strain and worry off both myself and my family. I also recieved a gift of £200. (I would definatley like to make it to the 200 mark with my sponsorship!)
When the chemotherapy kicked in i was in such a bad way. Clic Sargent seemed to be there as if with open arms!! I met a youth worker who came to visit me every week whilst i was in hospital and we would chat about my treatment and how bad the hospital food was!!! Basically anything... I found it so helpful having people to talk to who knew a little bit relating to my actual illness and as i opened up more about my worries regarding cancer, i came to find that i wasnt the only one who felt that way. During the visits i was put in touch with other young patients of a similar age who i could talk to. I have also been given the chance to get involved with workshops, jimmy teens film projects, general fun stuff!
These are just a few things they have done for me. CLIC Sargent support patients and families right up to the age of 25 and the ways in which they can do so are near endless! They act as special glue. Fixing problems that broken families face going through uncertain times, they bind together groups of young patients so they can make new friends and give them the chance to do fun activities to forget about cancer if for a little while and just like if you were to accidently glue your fingers together, they stick with you!!! However long you need the support, it will be there even after treatment has finished.
I have met so many amazing young patients now and we all have a good laugh at the monthly group meetings! Thanks to Clic Sargent we've all been given all these oppertunities to focus on better things in life despite fighting cancer. We've all gained confidence with the support given by this charity and even the knowledge of this abseil came about in a group meeting!! Im Terrified of heights but i believe in the incredible work this charity provides and as always i know i can count on my Clic Sargent gang to support me through this ........................... just like the many other challenges i face.
WISH ME LUCK FOLK......... but you can do better than that cant ya!!!!!!!! £££££££££££££££££££ hint!!!
xxxxxxxx VERITY xxxxxxx
