We are a charity legacy to Princess Diana to help young people change the world.

Story

The quiz will always be free. If you are able to donate, we have decided to pick a different charity each week, particularly charities that need support and awareness in these difficult times.

For the next two weeks it is the turn of The Diana Award, a charity in memory of Princess Diana based on the belief that young people can change the world. In particular we are supporting their Anti-Bullying Programme, which prevents bullying by supporting victims and training up young people, school staff and others to be Anti-Bullying Ambassadors who protect themselves and others from bullying and cyberbullying.

In the UK over half of young people experience bullying at school (63%), and 55% of adults have also experienced bullying at school. Over three quarters (78%) of young people said it made them feel anxious, over half of young people (56%) have not been able to sleep at night and nearly a fifth (17%) have been made to feel suicidal. And the solution the charity believes is to train young people, schools to tackle it and it only costs the charity £30 to do this, they have so far introduced the programme into 4,000 schools and trained 35,000 young people as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

Those of you with children or relatives who are young or have experienced I am sure will agree this is something that can affect mental health and stop people being successful not just in school but also having to deal with mental and sometimes physical scars for the rest of their life.

Alex who many of you will have heard me mention, has been helping me with everything from Social media to advice and through this has become a friend. He is the charity's Deputy CEO and actually never asked me if his charity could be chosen, but he has helped me so much with this that I couldn't do it alone and through him I have got to meet some of the team as well. They are now working hard while schools are shut to help young people who are being bullied online and deliver their training and support virtually, your donations will help them to continue to do this.

Their work is amazing, I really recommend watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ8CLS2t8GI

Thanks for watching, stay safe, look after each other and I'll see you on YouTube,

Jay

The Diana Award charity also has a Crisis Messenger service, which provides free, 24/7 crisis support across the UK, to any person any age in the UK. You can text the letters: DA to 85258. Trained volunteers will listen to how you’re feeling and help you think the next step towards feeling better. This can be used for suicidal thoughts, abuse, self-harm, bullying or family or relationship breakdown
