Back in 2016 Amy was fighting for her life for almost a week in intensive care.
Not long after being diagnosed with cervical cancer, she became seriously ill with an infection that caused unbearable pain. Before they could even start her cancer treatment, doctors needed to perform 2 operations and 5 blood transfusions. She was so weak, barely able to lift her arms and had to learn to walk again. She was getting stronger each day physically and mentally with the motivation and support of her family, friends and (then) 3 year old daughter. Sadly, Chemotherapy wasn't an option for Amy as she was still too ill and doctors advised it would be a lot riskier. However, after 2 months in hospital, with 6 weeks of intense Radiotherapy and 3 sessions of Brachytherapy she was given the all clear in November 2016.
Now we're taking part in the Penny Brohn sponsored walk from central Bristol to Pill - to raise money for this great cause which without, Amy wouldn't be the strong person she is today. Every penny raised will go towards supporting their work to enable people with cancer, and their supporters to live as well as possible with cancer. Just £50 will fund a counselling session for someone with cancer or their loved ones.
Anything that you can give will be gratefully received!
