Peak District Ultra Challenge 2023 · 8 July 2023 to 9 July 2023 ·

Without the ocean life on earth cannot exist. Our mission is to work towards resolving some of the major issues facing our marine and coastal environments. By supporting research and raising awareness we can help to protect and conserve the ocean for future generations. Help make a difference today

Story

The Walking Disasters are taking on the 100k through the night South Coast Challenge with Ultra Challenges to raise money for Just One Ocean!

The 'team' made up of Aaron & Chris, will be walking for 2 days straight and through the night across dangerous and desolate terrain filled with wild beasts and strange magic (or more commonly known as the South Coast!) We will also throughout the walk, be collecting rubbish and other waste we happen across in a bid to do our bit in preserving this area of outstanding beauty.

So, a little about us:

Chris (AKA Fishy), is a very VERY small man (Hobbit) from the rolling hills of Macclesfield who enjoys nature, tree climbing, scuba diving, gaming, eating Spaghetti Bolognese with his hands and serenading Fish with his Guitar. His biggest walk to date was when he took on walking from the sofa to his car so he cannot wait to take on this new challenge with his best friend in the stratosphere.

Aaron (AKA Air-ron) is a musical man from the deep south of England. He can frequently be found teaching, performing or listening to music, has a penchant for a cheesy pesto pasta and loves animals of all shapes and sizes. Growing up by the ocean has left him with a fondness for the lapping waves and (despite being vegetarian) has left him smelling like an old trout.
(And yes, we wrote each other's bios!)

About Our Charity

We are hoping to raise around £1200 for a charity and cause close to both of our hearts, Just One Ocean. Their mission is to raise the global awareness of the issues facing our marine and coastal environments in order to protect and conserve them for future generations. Just One Ocean has developed a number of projects to achieve this mission. They are currently undertaking and supporting scientific research in several disciplines, advising on community based programmes, supporting businesses and arts projects. The work they do is diverse, but so are the problems facing the ocean!

The issues facing our environment are vast and with a little bit of help from everyone, we can make small but significant changes to help protect our amazing wildlife, oceans and planet for generations to come. Any donations, however great or small, are hugely appreciated and will go towards such vital and important work so a huge thank you from the both of us!

Please do keep an eye on this page for updates on our training, walking and general tomfoolery! A&C
