Walking to help fight Cancer
My name is Andrew Wakley and I am climbing 138 of the highest Welsh Mountains for two reasons – firstly in memory of my wife Wimke who died at home in Brecon on 9 April this year from metastatic breast cancer and secondly in appreciation of the wonderful medical and palliative care she received during her illness.
Raising money to support Cancer Research UK
For two years Wimke had regular treatment but was also able to enjoy a good quality of life thanks to newly developed drugs. I am supporting Cancer Research in the hope and belief that every day they will get closer to preventing or curing this terrible disease which cuts short so many wonderful lives.
Your donations to Cancer Research UK - however large or small - will help them to beat Cancer sooner.

Walking with others is more fun!
I will climb the first of the 138 mountains in the Brecon Beacons in the middle of June 2015 on my 73rd birthday with some of my family. I am aiming to climb all the mountains within a year, including walking up Pen y Fan on Wimke's birthday - 20 March 2016 - which I also hope will be the final walk. I welcome as many people as possible to join me on that day.
Some of the walks will be more strenuous than others but hopefully all will be enjoyable. If you are interested in joining me on any of the walks please email me at walkingtohelpfightcancer@outlook.com
For details of the 138 mountains I am climbing please search online for "Welsh Hewitts" and click on the wikiedia page for "Welsh Hewitts and Nuttalls" - I'm climbing all the Welsh Hewitts.
