There is a public health ticking time bomb going on in Gaza and no one is talking about it. 

Gaza is a territory in Palestine that is home to almost 2 million people; half of them are children. For more than a decade, Israel has been  separating Gaza from the rest of the world with a severe blockade on the movement of people & goods. 

Israel said the blockade is necessary for security reasons. However they are prohibited under international law from ignoring the human rights of Palestinians, when doing so. 

The impact of Israel’s blockade includes:

- 80% of the Gazans rely on humanitarian aid

- Gazans can’t leave to see their own families 

- Impossible for students from Gaza to leave and study abroad

- One of the highest unemployment rate in the world (49%)

- Many can’t rebuild their destroyed homes. 

Worse: pollution and an influx of seawater mean that 96% of the water is unfit for human consumption. 

What can be done? 

We need to get this talked about. Saving Gaza Begins with its water. We are collaborating with IslamicReliefUK to build water tanks:

£45 can supply and install a 300 litre water tank for drinking water for a family

£125 can supply and install a 1000 litre water tank for domestic use for a family

The UN predicted Gaza would be unlivable by 2020. They were right. Innocent human beings - most of them young -  are slowly being poisoned by the water they drink. When a place becomes unlivable, people move. Think of droughts or for conflicts such as in Syria. However, Gazans cannot move. They cannot escape.

Access to clean water is a human right, so why is Palestine an exception?
