This October COOKIE MONSTAR and I will be joining a group of loyal female supporters on a 21 mile sponsored walk in the Somme region of France entitled ‘Wenches in Trenches’.

Information

Following the frontline held by British troops in World War I, the walk starts in the town of Albert and the ladies will call at British cemeteries and memorials along the route to lay poppy crosses and honour our heroes from that era.

The walk ends with a short ceremony at The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, a major war memorial to the 72,195 missing British and Commonwealth men who died in the Battle of the Somme and who have no known grave. Cpl Andy Reid who was severely injured in Afghanistan in 2009 and as a result is a triple amputee will lay a wreath at the final memorial for us.

Over half of the walkers are ladies from army camps in Germany who want to do something worthwhile for the charity. The walk will be led by new Forces Sweetheart drag artiste Miss Cookie Monstar, who will not only lead the walkers but also provide entertainment in the evening as we camp army style on the Somme.

By walking this route, the ladies will be truly bringing history to life. Many of the walkers are wives and mothers of serving soldiers some injured or killed in the current conflict, so please support this wonderful walk and this amazing charity. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity
