Karyn Hunt inspired the fund raising event in August where 50 friends attended. Then 25 comedians in fancy dress put smiles on the faces of the generous folk of Hereford at the Sausage & Cider festival. So much so they pulled in seven hundred pounds on the day! You can help to save more people sooner. You can buy a 20s or Cancer Research T shirt to add more funds to our cause. Two of our funsters are Cancer survivors, Karyn Hunt & Garry Woolf. They wanted us to highlight the work that Cancer Research UK does as they wouldn't have been with us otherwise.
Our former colleague Royston Bennett lost his battle with cancer in 2014. He was someone that everyone had a good word for and helped anyone if he could whenever he could. Many old friends have donated in his memory. Scores of people travelled to Hereford to show respect for this gentle man. Also, Lisa Cotton (was Groves) should have enjoyed some of the best things in life like hugs, laughter and great memories with old friends at our Reunited event, she would have been 51 this year. Cancer took her away so we won't see that lovely warm smile again. All we can do is something in her memory and try to raise funds to stop more mums being lost to cancer. Her husband Simon has supported our cause. Other friends have survived thanks to "Cancer Research". Karyn Hunt is a daughter and a wife & a mother of three rebuilding her life following a breast operation and cancer treatment over the last two years. On June 4th 2015 she had a reconstructive procedure. On August 30th Karyn ran with two dozen friends to raise funds for Cancer Research. Garry Woolf completed the 6K and is a cancer survivor, he has helped our fund grow. We want more success stories of more survivors with fewer broken families. The fundraising run started and finished outside the Green Dragon Hotel in the centre of beautiful old Hereford during the summer bank holiday. We are all trying to do something to help! Each runner had someone in mind to motivate them. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
