The World Parrot Trust has achieved remarkable results by working with researchers, parrot enthusiasts, local communities and government leaders to protect parrots. It restores and protects populations of wild parrots and their native habitats and educates the public on the care of parrots.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've been working as a keeper at Longleat Safari and Adventure Park for just over two years and have come to appreciate just how incredible these birds are. The World Parrot Trust eloquently puts their case as one for concern: "Parrots are loved for their intelligence, their companionship and their beauty. We marvel at their cleverness and their ability to talk and because of our continued fascination many of them are cherished pets in our homes. Yet sadly over the centuries, we have loved parrots almost to death. Because of human pressure, 1 in 4 species are threatened, making them the most endangered group of birds on Earth."

I ran a year ago as a gorilla for Longleat's official charity TUSK in the Longleat 10K 2015 but felt I needed a bigger challenge for a charity that is not as well known or supported yet just as deserving. Please pledge whatever you can and if you are around on the 17 July, see me fly off at 10am from Frome Rugby Ground if only to have a bit of a laugh!
