The 2.6 Challenge · 26 April 2020 ·
Our 3 year outdoor adventure programme gives vulnerable young people the hope, confidence and resilience to face the challenges in their daily lives. We can't change their circumstances, but we can help them make positive decisions, exceed their expectations and achieve their full potential.
Our Mentoring Scheme forms part of our after-care package and mentors work with a young person for a year, following their completion of the main programme. Their role involves supporting them with issues they are experiencing, continuing to develop their confidence, resilience and life skills, and working towards the outcomes that their young person has identified for themselves.
Covid-19 has brought extremely challenging times for everybody, not least for the young people we work with. Like many organisations, we have responded and adapted the way in which we support our young people and our fantastic team of Volunteer Mentors are continuing to support their young person remotely. This continued support is hugely valued by young people and their families and is helping them to navigate the additional challenges of this difficult time with a trusted adult.
"The virtual mentoring sessions help him to reset his emotions and start afresh when he is getting uptight or wound up about the lockdown."
Every penny you donate or fundraise will go towards providing the young people on our programme with a one to one remote mentoring service, group discussions and practical resources to help them build the resilience to navigate these challenging times.
