As a result of long-term health conditions, more than 1 in 10 children in the UK can be denied a carefree childhood, and this number is growing. Our programmes empower children and families to explore new possibilities and rediscover the fun and magic of childhood.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

At the end of May, we shall be embarking on a yomp. "What is a yomp?" I hear you cry, and it is a good question. Apparently we will be mostly running across fields, wading through streams, crawling through tunnels, puzzling over problems, sweating lots, crying in pain, and blushing with humiliation, all in the name of, you guessed it, charity.

Our intrepid team will be covering 30 miles over two days, and at each mile marker, we will be required to complete a physical or mental challenge. We are currently in rigorous (!) training for this event, as we foolhardily intend to win it. However, more importantly, we hope to raise lots of money for a truly worthwhile cause. We will be yomping for the Over The Wall - a residential camp for terminally ill children, where the kids can have fun and feel normal for a change, and escape briefly from the constant fear that they experience through their illnesses. As some of you may know, George volunteers to look after the children at this camp each year.

We will be marked according to our performance overall, on each of the tasks, and on the amount of sponsorship that we raise. 36 teams participate. To make it a little more interesting, we have decided upon a challenge to further encourage your support. For every £5 that you sponsor you may make one prediction as to the answer to the ridiculous sum below. The person who guesses closest to this number will receive the prize of a meal for two.

Number of bottles of lucozade drunk by all four of us over the two days + hour (24hr clock e.g. 2000) at which Will falls asleep on the first evening (hint probably shortly after dinner in the pub) - Number of fences we cross x number of our blisters that pop / our finishing position (out of 36) Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Over The Wall Gang Camp will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support. Please also send an email with your prediction(s) to the sum to jdawson@deloitte.co.uk Thank you
