Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge - 26 June 2010

Can we climb 2,153 metres and walk 23.5 miles in 12 hours we wondered.  Of course we can we thought.  And we did.

On Saturday, 26 June 2010, we took in some of Yorkshires finest scenery when we walked up Pen-Y-Ghent, followed by Whernside and then the unforgiving Ingleborough in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.  The aim?  To complete the course, raise as much money as possible for charity and have a beer in hand, within the famous 12 hour time schedule.

We had a fantastic day.  The weather was on our side (though a little too hot at times) and we successfully completed the challenge in a time of 11 hours, 20 minutes.  Even a trip to the local pub to get the first pint came within the 12 hour limit, at 11 hours 45 minutes.  Drinking it came in at 11 hours 50 minutes - and this included the pulling of them.

This year the challenge is raising funds for a variety of different Macmillan services across the country that support people with cancer and their families in different ways.  Every pound raised will make a huge difference to people affected by cancer.  Macmillan relies on voluntary donations for 99% of its income: and cannot do this without our support.

It's still not too late to donate.

If you feel you could spare a few pennies to congratulate us on completeling our challenge it would be much appreciated.  Not just by us, but by the many people affect by cancer, one way or another.
