Yuanting's Warwick Jailbreak 2014

Hello! Firstly, Thank you for visiting my page!! :) I felt deeply connected to this when I found out Warwick Jailbreak is donating to the Cancer Research. They say Cancer is like flu nowadays. You can easily get it anyway, anywhere. I am supporting this event mainly because I have witness the agony of a cancer patient myself. So, even if my fundraising goal have been met, I would sincerely hope people would still donate to save the next person from going through the suffer! THE MORE THE MERRIER!! THANK YOU!!
Since I am asking people to support this, I thought it would be fair to share my story.
PS: I am doing this in memorial of my mom's fighting spirit, and for all the love she has showered on me and my family.
*The following story was from my blog*
Living in Immobility
Have you ever live an immobile life?
literally. immobile.
Mainly due to the excessive output from a fistula and for nutrition purposes.
Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) can be stopped for a while, perhaps 30 minutes, but an average of 1.5 litre highly acidic digestive juice is flowing out from the fistula everyday, hence a portable continuous suction machine is essential in this case. Not to mention the fistula, ileostomy & wound cleaning process requires a few hours of lying down on the bed in her case.
And, she is suffering retroperitoneal liposarcoma(violent agony), inoperable tumor, life cannot be prolonged by chemo nor radio.
*Memories flashing back*
It was in the morning. Mom hurried my maid to my room to wake me up.
Three of us, panicking. because the whole area's electricity has been affected.
Mom was sitting in the living room telling me, "Ting, the reserve battery of the suction machine is running off."
CRAP. What should I do?
Mom can't travel. If would be hard for her to travel to our relative's house nearby anyway.
I began to realise the limitations of home nursing because at least I have not heard of hospital's electricity being cut off for no reason!
It's like a wake up pail of water being poured on my face, oh my gosh. my mom do rely highly on electricity. TO LIVE!
I've learnt how manually run TPN on her but there's no way for suction!
#I've only got 30mins, do something Ting! I kept pushing myself to think!#
So I sat on the stairs with my pyjamas and googled TNB number to make a complaint. Unfortunately, my first phone call wasn't the department I'm supposed to call.
(From the previous experiences, the speed of a big company transferring phone calls from one department to another is reaaaaaaaaaaaaally SLOW. So I thought my world is turning darker because its gonna take long time to transfer me to the correct department)
Surprisingly, the efficient TNB girl gave me the complaint number straight away.15454
and they were quite efficient either!
SO THANKFUL the electricity came directly after mom's suction machine battery went off!!
I'm a healthy kid, probably will NEVER understand how other patient feels. However I just want to say, even if you are mobile or immobile in the sense of needing to sit on a wheelchair, DO be grateful of what you have, and live life to the fullest! Because people out there, my mom in particular, was struggling to live on even though she's badly in pain and was living in agony for the past 6 months.
I don't know how she do that but she does it anyway.
