Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

Dave was diagnosed with bladder cancer in December 2022 after having symptoms and investigations since the summer. He began treatment in January 2023. Due to some complications which delayed the treatment, his course finished in April. Sadly, upon investigation we were informed that the cancer had returned, resulting in Dave having a second operation in June 2023 to remove the bladder tumours. Further treatment was planned but due to Dave's deteriorating health he was hospitalised again where biopsies and scans revealed the bladder cancer had somehow managed to spread to Dave's lymph glands, liver, lungs and bones. Only 5 days after receiving this devastating news, Dave passed away.

Dave's family and friends are heartbroken. He touched so many lives and made the world a better place. He will be sadly missed by us all.

We urge all men and women to talk openly about their 'water works' with friends and family and their doctor. And to do so in a timely fashion. Whilst Dave had reported his symptoms fairly early on, unfortunately the medics had thought these were due to his kidney function which was under investigation at the time. Unfortunately the bladder cancer was aggressive and advanced quickly. We hope that further research and education about bladder cancer can reduce the impact of this disease for future men and women.
