Climb Ben Nevis for Water · 25 July 2009

Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity that aims to alleviate the suffering of the world's poorest people. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, it promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities - regardless of race, religion or gender.

Story

Dirty water kills 5 million people a year
The average distance women in Africa and Asia walk to collect water is 6 km

Inadequate water, sanitation and hygiene not only cause sickness and death, as shortages in water can lead to harvest failures and even famine. All these factors combine together to contribute to the continuing cycle of poverty in developing countries

Islamic Relief's water & sanitation activities include:
Building water supply systems in deprived areas
Digging and restoring wells
Implementing water purification projects
Undertaking integrated sanitation programmes
Community mobilisation and awareness programmes

To support this work, I am going to join a group of people to treck to the basecamp of Ben Nevis.  It is the highest peak in the UK and promises to be a very tough challenge.

I will do all the hard work, all I need you to do is sponser me!  All donations, small or large are welcome.  Your donation could save a life!!!  I am aiming to raise a minimum of £300 so every little helps!

If you would like to know more about my charity, you can visit thier website: www.islamic-relief.org.uk

Please please donate generously and wish me luck!!

Thanks!
