I'm so excited to be running the London Marathon again for St Nicholas Hospice Care in Bury St Edmunds.
Often if you think of a Hospice, you think of the immediate service it offers - compassionate palliative care for those in their final stages of life. This is true of St Nic's, but having raised money for the Hospice before and volunteered at events with them, I've learnt that they also go far and beyond this. They support not only those that require end of life care, but they also support anyone touched by death, dying and grief.
Amongst their additional services, St Nic's currently:
All of this is only made possible by donations.
The last year has been incredibly difficult for charities, with large participant events cancelled, and non-essential shops closed. St Nic's has been hugely impacted and I hope that this fundraising goes towards making a difference at the Hospice and ensuring it can continue to make such a positive impact in the communities of Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas.
Oh, and even more excitingly, this year's London Marathon will be held on my 34th birthday! I will ensure plenty of cake is consumed.
