Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK and my challenge is to walk or run 10,000 steps every day throughout the month of March. This may not seem like much of a challenge but as my average for the whole of January was just 3500 steps per day, I'm going to have to up my game a bit! Please donate whatever you can.
My motivation for this challenge is personal. As most of you know, Patrick has recently had treatment for Prostate cancer and this is my effort to feel like I am doing something to fight back at it!
Something a lot of you won't be aware of is that in 1984, my brother Stewart lost his battle with prostate cancer at the age of 31 leaving behind a wife and two young sons. This devastated our whole family and I still miss him today. There was a lack of awareness, even among doctors and by the time Stewart was diagnosed, it was too late for treatment.
It is because of awareness and research into more effective treatments that the prognosis for most prostate cancer patients is positive but still, 10,000 men each year die from it. More funding will help reduce that number.
I'm doing 10,000 steps in memory of those 10,000 men. Please give what you can.
