One pony ride when Channing was four was all it took for her to be hooked on horses, and the barn soon became her home away from home. But when she was nine, she was diagnosed with epilepsy, and her barn days and aspirations were replaced by long days in bed. After years of experimenting with countless meds and therapies, she reached partial control of her seizures, and – with help from her support team, Team Channing – on good days she’s in the saddle and in the arena competing on behalf of epilepsy warriors from around the world who are losing or have lost their battle to epilepsy.

While Channing fights her fight in the arena, her mom, her biggest fan, grows purple carrots & crops in the garden which she distributes to help spread awareness about Channing’s fight.

"For some it takes a village. For our family, it takes a barn. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to have incredible community & barn support. It’s that support that helps our family keep Channing riding on her good days, and now, me in the garden. 

This all started in 2003, and it’s hard to believe it’s been almost 20 years. That’s exactly why we’re raising the bar, and digging deeper for CURE Epilepsy.

Our family’s goal is to raise $100,000.00 for a researcher to receive one of CURE Epilepsy’s Taking Flight Award $100,000/One year research grants. 

Since 2019, our family has now raised $20,000.00. Living with refractory epilepsy wasn't the plan, but for 20 years it continues to be the ride of our lives. 

We're keeping our hope pace steady in the arena, and we're digging deep in the garden for research until there's a cure."
