I've done it!!

 

As former chairman of both the Dentists' Health Support Trust and the BDA Benevolent Fund, I'm very concerned that both charities are experiencing an increase in demand and a falling off of income.

To do my bit towards putting this right, I rowed 100 miles (on a Concept Rowing Machine) during November. For each mile I donated £4 and I hope you will support me by adding to this.

100 miles in 30 days may not sound much but at nearer 92 than 91 this is quite a challenge!

I signed a witnessed undertaking and kept an accurate record of the distance travelled each day. And all money raised will be split equally between the Trust and the Ben Fund.

Both charities are there to provide help for all members of the profession when it is needed. The DHSP (reg. charity no.1003819) is a confidential programme, aimed mainly at those with alcohol and/or drug problems. It has proved to be brilliant at identifying those individuals, providing them and their families with advice and counselling, arranging treatment when necessary and providing follow up; which may last for years. It is this Programme which is funded by the Trust. There is a success rate of approaching 75% - way above the National average.

While the Trust is only concerned with funding the Programme, the Benevolent Fund (reg. charity no.208146), has a much wider role - as well as providing financial help to individuals on the Programme, they are there for ALL dentists and their families in times of financial need.

A real team effort!  It would be tragic if this had to be curtailed through lack of finances, so join me in trying to ensure that this does not happen and please make a donation today.
