Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The worst accident in the history of Everest mountaineering occurred in April 2014 on the south side of the world's highest peak. Sixteen Sherpas were killed in the notorious Khumbu Icefall by an avalanche that fell from the hanging glaciers along the West Shoulder. Many more were injured.
Xtreme Everest had worked with some of these Sherpas in previous years. We could not have carried out our research in Nepal without the support of these individuals. Therefore, we wish to raise money for them and their families to ensure they do not suffer as a result of this tragedy.
Amongst other things, members of the XE2 research team will be taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival in October 2014
Money raised via this page will be divided equally between the the Summit Trekking Welfare fund, which supports the Sherpas used by our expedition partners Jagged Globe, and the Xtreme Everest research fund, managed by the Trustees of UCLH Charity. Please show your support by making a donation, however small.
