When St Pega's Church Roof was stolen 18 months ago we were
quoted £72,000 to have a new steel roof fitted. The work was completed in May
2020 with the final bill being £120,000. Even allowing for generous donations
and a number of grants the Church bank account is now bare. How to help during lockdown? I had the idea to build an electric powered control line model
aircraft to fly on thread lines in my garden. Electric powered to be quiet (not annoy the neighbours) and environmentally good for the planet (no emissions).
The Church is 1004 years old so the challenge is to fly 1004 laps in the
garden( One lap for every year the Church has stood). This is a difficult
challenge! I reckon to programme the computer timer in the model to power the model for sections of 40 to 50 laps at a time. Hopefully my (77 year old legs) will be able to keep going to complete the target 1004 laps.! I have now built a special balsa wood model with 24" wingspan to attempt to fly 1004 laps.

I am looking for kind supporters to sponsor my challenge. If I was supported at 1p per lap this would raise £10.04.

However, any support of any amount will be very much appreciated. My target is to raise £1000 to help the Church survive this very difficult period in its 1004 year history. Lap counters and flight video recording  will be most welcome.
