So... forty miles on a bicycle? "Paff! I could do that easy on my bike" - and so you probably could - but The 10th Essex Great War Living History Group (note - we're a Living History Group, NOT re-enactors) have painstakingly restored Edwardian period bicycles and on the 31st August we intend to cycle them from Sandgate, along The Royal Military Canal, through to Dymchurch, New Romney and on to Dungeness before turning round and coming all the way back again. Our bicycles have 28" wheels, rod brakes (or, as we prefer to call them "no brakes"), no gears and were forged from the heaviest metals known to man! We're doing this because we love to do it - but because we are we think that Combat Stress should benefit too - and subsequently the British Servicemen and Women of today.
