Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We suppose you are wondering what we are going to do to justify you donating your hard earned money to this great charity. Well eight of us (Paula, Vicky, Rob, Bev, Sue, Jean, Rox and Nichola) - hence the 16 feet - are taking part in an 8.5 mile walk round Oxford city. It may not be as exciting or challengin as climbing Everest or running the London marathon but it will be fun and it will allow a group of friends to spend some time together as well as raising money for a really good cause.
The moonlight walk sets of from St Edward's school on Woodstock Road at 10.30pm on Saturday July 10th. We then walk through Oxford city passing some of its famous landmarks and historical sights before finishing 8.5 miles later were we will be rewarded with a cup of tea and a chance to sit down.
This event is the major fundraiser for Sobell House and last year it raised over £100,000. It costs the hospice approximately £3.4 million to run and most of this money comes from individuals and charity events. Therefore we would all appreciate any money that you can donate to us for this walk as every penny will make a difference, thanks!
- Update July 2010 - Vicky will no longer be joining us on the walk this Saturday as she has been arguing with a motorcyclist on her way home from work. Luckily, she has not broken anything but she is bruised and sore and needs to rest. Take Care V, see you soon.
- Update July 2010 - Well we completed the walk in 3 hours 10 minutes, which was longer than we all thought it would take. However, it was a great evening, everyone had fun and the weather was superb. Thanks to everyone for taking part and for raising money. Of course, there is still time to contribute to this fantastic charity.
