Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. During the past 3 years I have taken part in 3 running events to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer and I very much appreciate the sponsorship I’ve received from patients, former patients and their families.
This year, I’m taking part in Pedal for Scotland’s event so on Sunday 8 September I will be cycling from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I would be so grateful for any support you can give. All of the money raised will help Breakthrough continue to save lives and change futures throughout Scotland.
As a breast cancer surgeon I am well aware of the devastating impact that breast cancer has on thousands of women across Scotland, which is why funding Breakthrough’s work is essential. Managing breast cancer is frustrating. I know we could do better for patients if we had a better understanding of how drugs work, and why sometimes they don’t. The only way we will better understand breast cancer is to do more research. Funding our work gives me hope that we will, through research, be able to treat patients more effectively and ultimately give more of them a future without the fear of breast cancer returning.
I would also be grateful if you could ask anyone who you think might like to cycle in the event to sign up with Pedal for Scotland. They can register their place at www.pedalforscotland.org. Breakthrough is organising a team ‘Mike’s Marvels’ and the more team members we have, the more money we can raise to improve detection, diagnosis and treatments for everyone affected by breast cancer. If you or anyone you know would be interested in taking part, please contact mikesmarvels@breakthrough.org.uk or phone 0131 226 0761 – you’ll get a great welcome to our team.
Bike Ride - the 47 mile Glasgow to Edinburgh ride is Scotland's biggest bike ride and attracted 8000 participants last year. It combines of a great route that uses a mix of closed roads, quiet back roads and cycle paths and stunning countryside. It's the perfect challenge for both regular cyclists and those who haven't cycled in a while.
Please help us continue to save lives by donating now. With your help we can breakthrough breast cancer.
I can’t do this without you. Thank you so much.
Mike
