On the 10th July 2010, 10 members from 238 Sqn, RAF Cosford will each cycle the length of the , from Lands End to John O'Groats, a total of 1066 miles in 15 days. The route climbs over 36,000ft, the equivalent of cycling to the top of Mt Everest.
Whilst this is a massive personal challenge and a great team challenge for us, it's also a great chance for you to help some of the very poorly children in the . Please Help to raise £2000 to assist Children’s Hospital in building a new ‘hybrid’ cardiac theatre, the first of its kind in a children’s hospital. If you are not aware Children’s Hospital has one of the busiest Children’s Heart Centres in this country. Their internationally renowned Cardiac Unit sees over 10,000 children a year, with approximately 80% of surgeries being open-heart procedures, and around 60% performed on children under 12 months old.
With this new Cardiac Theatre they will be able to perform surgical procedures and keyhole techniques simultaneously, offering exciting new horizons for the conditions they treat. It will also reduce the number of operations that many of these young children need and their lengths of stay in hospital.
Children with poorly hearts need people with generous ones, like you.
