Story
Hi,
My name is Trev Evans and I am in the Army, a Staff Sergeant in the
Royal Corps of Signals based in Bexleyheath,Kent.
It seems like the good weather we've been having has got me out of my
office and down to the gym to do some training. Whilst on the rowing
machine, I had the idea of raising some money for charity and thought up
the idea of the Capital City Rowathon.
Considering we are all in the military, the decision was made that our
chosen charity should be "Help for Heroes", a Tri-Service charity
designed to raise money and awareness for service personnel who have been
injured or wounded whilst serving overseas on operations.
After a few phone calls and a little bit of arm twisting, myself and 11
other soldiers from the Bexleyheath based 265 (Kent & County of London Yeomanry)
Support Squadron part of 71 (Yeomanry) Signal Regiment have set ourselves this
team challenge.
The challenge consists of 3 teams of 4 rowing the equivelant
distance from London to Cardiff to Dublin to Belfast to Edinburgh and returning
back to London, a total of 1409 Km or 875 miles.
We plan to carry out the task with a target time of 48 hours. This means
that each member of the team will be on the rowing machine for a total time
of 12 hours, rowing a distance of 117.5 Km.
The activity will be supported by additional members of the Squadron providing
logistical, medical and administrative support throughout.
We would really appreciate your kind support in our venture and would
appreciate any contribution made to this worth while cause in supporting all
our injured and wounded service personnel.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes will receive
your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be
added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thankyou for visiting this site and once again, thankyou for your support.
Trev, Steve, Ade, Mickey, Dave, Deano, Cas, Andy, Brett, Jim, Taff and "Crazy"!
