My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We decided last year (for reasons unknown) that we all wanted to run a marathon. We all applied for the London Marathon but none of us got in. Eventually we decided on running the Edinburgh Marathon and decided to run for The Guide Dogs as our charity.

Since all 3 of us have buckled eyesight and will probably require the use of a guide dog in the future we thought they were a worthwhile charity! In all seriousness, these dogs dedicate their lives to do so much to help blind and partially blind people live their day to day life we thought the least we could do is to raise some money for them.

We hope that with this worthwhile charity and the fact that we will suffer greatly doing this, that you will all dig very deep and contribute to our cause. We all appreciate that we live in times of austerity but please contribute as much as you can!

Thanks from us all,

Steve, Alan and Matthew

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

Charity Registration No. in England and Wales 209617 and Scotland SC038979

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of blind and partially sighted people never leave home alone. Guide Dogs empowers visually impaired people to do that and relies totally on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service. We breed and train guide dogs which provide life changing mobility and there are currently 4,500 working guide dog partnerships in the UK. The full lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is £48,500. We will not rest until blind and partially sighted people can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
