Story
Hi Folks
I am on another mission - I am running the Inverness Marathon on the 7th of October 2007, and then the New York Marathon only 28 days later on the 4th of November 2007.
Two marathons in 28 days over 2 continents, this time I am running in aid of Scottish Huntington's Association.
I have set a target of raising over £10,000 for this charity in a joint venture with my wee cousin Adele, who lost her husband earlier this year and will be running the London Marathon in April 2008. This is Adele and Mark's chosen charity and we are running in his memory.
No.1 UPDATE
The first marathon was completed yesterday ( 7-10-07) on a beautiful sunny day in Inverness. I managed to finish 89th in 3hrs 12 minutes. A huge thanks to everyone for their support and who have donated so far.
No.2 UPDATE
New York was completed on the 4th of November 2007, weather again was great, my run this time did not go quite to plan, manged to hobble in after 4hrs 5 minutes, still well up the 40,000 strong field, finishing in just over 13,000 place. A truly unforgettable experience, crossing the start line to Frank Sinatra booming out "New York, New York" was a great way to start, the sight as you enter 1st Avenue and look up the 4 miles ahead is awesome.
Thanks to everyone again who have donated both on and off line so far, please keep it coming.. You have all been a great inspiration to me.
I am meeting all the expenses for attending and participating in these marathons myself, so every penny donated will go to the charity, and when it comes to fundraising every penny makes a difference.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scottish Huntington's Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So come on, please drop us a donation
Many thanks for your support and for putting us well on the road to make our £10,000 target .
Cheers
Alan & Adele
