Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

A team of people from 39 Squadron are attempting the Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon on the 6th December 2009.  The team consists of 13 people all of varying levels of fitness, and the team have been training individually for a number of weeks already.

One of the big things that springs to mind when training in the heat of the Nevada desert was that although we are training hard in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, our troops on the ground in Afghanistan are living and working hard in the same heat whilst also having to deal with the constant pressure of insurgent attacks. Many of these troops are injured or even killed as a result of these attacks.

It was this thought that made us think about how we could help them, and through donating money to Help for Heroes, we feel we can give something back to those who have been wounded in the course of their duties.  For those of you that have not heard of Help for heroes, you can visit their website at www.helpforheroes.org.uk.
