Along with a group of friends and colleagues from AMEC, I am taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge on 26th June. We will be climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, the highest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland and are aiming to do it in 24 hours!

This challenge and the UCAN charity are both very personal to me. In 2006 I was diagnosed with localised prostate cancer, at the time I had just completed a 130 mile cycle ride for charity and was quite fit so the news came as a complete shock. In January 2007 I opted for Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy as a non invasive treatment. This procedure places tiny radioactive seeds directly into the prostate. Thankfully I am now well on the road to a full recovery with no major after effects, and now that I don't have to focus on basic survival I can focus on getting fit again and supporting a charity that is close to my heart.
