Story

***Updated 2nd April***

Unfortunately Michelle lost her battle with Cancer on Good Friday 2010.  She was a strong girl and achieved much in her short life.  Many thanks for your continued support and best wishes - Steve (Husband)

My response to being diagnosed with breast cancer is to fight it all the way, with massive support from my family and friends.

Not being one to sit down and let things take their course, I feel that the best way to keep my mind off the treatment and focused on positive action is to get as many people as possible involved in fundraising for cancer treatment and research.  So far I’ve got loads of positive feedback and together we’re organising and participating in various events . . .

 Bob & Wendy Sharpe opened up their gardens to the public on the afternoon of 7 July, and with entry fees, a raffle and “guess the number of species in the garden” quiz, they raised an amazing £525!

 Chris Imms and friends presented us with a cheque for £500 which had been raised through various local events.  A big thank you to Chris!

 Steve Sharpe competed in the Dublin Marathon on 29 October, achieving a personal best time of 3 hours 5 minutes and raising over £2,000 – well done Steve!

 Jutta Bowen invited family and friends to her home to enjoy freshly baked cakes and pastries, and participate in a raffle and various quizzes.  She also completed a 10 mile sponsored walk with the local rambling club, raising a fantastic £400 – good work Jutta!

 Colin Mulligan has been cycling to work and back every day (a 20 mile round trip).  This is quite an achievement, as Colin hasn’t been on a bike since his schooldays – don’t ask how long ago that was!  Watch out for Colin in next year’s Tour de France – or maybe the Manchester to Blackpool Challenge!

 Mark Bowen combined aerobic workouts with core strength sessions to get fit for the Bristol 10K, achieving a time of just over 50 minutes and raising more than £400 -- thanks Mark!

 Steve and I successfully completed the Fowey Triathlon on 7 September, which involved a 600m swim, 29k cycle and 12k run on a tough hilly course!  This was the culmination of many months of hard training, so we're now taking a well earned rest!

Please can you support us, either by participating in an event yourself, supporting one of our events, or simply making a donation online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me – Christie's against Cancer will receive your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  So please sponsor me now and help make a difference!

Many thanks for your support.
