****************** FINISHED!!!!!!!!****************
THE MOST amazing experience. This last run was the best, probably because it was the last! Took my usual route from home, out and back, ending with a glory finish (Rocky theme tune, big sprint, tears, red ribbon, everyone cheering - just like I've been visualising for months).... a really special moment.
Feeling surprisingly well.... just a revolting case of plantar fasciitis on both feet, which makes that thing called walking a bit of a challenge.
Thank you and well done to Mandy, Gemma (1st timer), Amy, Benji (1st timer), Adam, Matt (got a little lost!), and Simon (injury meant a great boost by joining us for the last 3 miles) - you all really helped me get along (check out the new pictures). Big thanks too to all my supporters, especially Melly, for making the whole day so special.
And an extra thank you to everyone who has sponsored me..... at the time of typing, with Beaverbrooks matching what's been donated, plus gift aid, Health Poverty Action (Health Unlimited) look to be receiving close to £18,000! What a difference that will make to so many lives.
Same time next week?

(Monday morning update: 11:00 a.m. Just woken up... things hurt, yet I want to go for a run! Weird. Ah well, back to bed!)

Oh yes...... 4 down, and 5 minus 4 is 1, and that means I finish soon!! 52.4 miles completed. Weather was great in London - drizzle kept us cool. Big thanks to Helen from Health Unlimited (now renamed as Health Poverty Action) for keeping me company and spurring me on. On the train, headed home - so pleased! xx

2 down.... that's nearly halfway! Cardiff was nice and flat, unlike Evilburgh. Bit stiff now, with one sore foot, but otherwise in good shape. Thanks to Steve & Steve (1st timer) for keeping me going, and well done to you both x

Finished my first one. Feels like I've broken a basic law of physics - Edinburgh is only uphill!! Hardest 1/2 ever, so glad it was first and out of the way. 4 to go. Cheers to Phil for giving me some great support for the first half of this horrible run! x
5 half-marathons – 5 cities – 5 days
From 17th to 21st March 2010, I’m running a half-marathon a day, for 5 consecutive days… a total of 65.5 miles! They will take place in Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, London & Manchester. We’re raising money for an awesome charity. Health Unlimited work in the poorest parts of Africa, Asia and South America. They introduce birthing facilities that massively reduce infant mortality rates, improve health services, bring in immunisation programmes and target areas such as nutrition, water, sanitation and income generation. IMPORTANT: every pound donated will be matched by Beaverbrooks, so if you give £100, the matching, along with your Gift Aid, means that around £225 will be raised, and the total of £10,000 will actually be £22,500!
