Story
Two years ago, Nick Salter as Junior Warden supported me (as the then Master Actuary) in a 94ft abseil down the tower of St Lawrence Jewry. It’s fair to say that my effort was more akin to being lowered on a rope than abseiling. It took a number of hours to stop shaking afterwards. Being an adventurous type, friends and supporters assured me that I’d love it. They were wrong!!
However, we did raise over £11,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal which was a fantastic result.
Despite having found the 94ft drop scary, Nick, now as Master, is valiantly following his immediate predecessor’s footsteps in abseiling down the Cheesegrater. Celebrating our new affiliation with 601 Sqn, he will not be alone, with both an Honorary and a Regular Reserve member joining the team.
If you'd like to spectate we expect that our team will be making the drop just before noon.
If you’d like to support the team as a whole, you can donate here. I emphasise that I will not be abseiling myself ... but am in charge of arrangements for the celebratory drinks afterwards from noon on 14th September. If you'd like to join us please donate here and tick the share details with Sally box. I'll keep you posted.
