We offer emotional & financial support to help families through childhood cancer

Story

It began 5 years ago, sat in a pub in Newport Pagnell prior to the MK Dons vs Leicester game. Ollie and I were in awe at the 54 stadiums that Ollie's dad (Big Nick) had been to in comparison to our paltry totals of 17 and 21. Since that moment, we have been on a mission to visit all 92 football league stadiums, and as of today we have been to 91 of those, taking us the best part of five years. We’ve consumed A LOT of pies, a fair amount of beer and clocked up well over 15,000 miles criss-crossing the country.

Now, with just one stadium left, it is time for us to give something back for the journey that we have been on. We realise we have a unique opportunity to undertake something special, something remarkable and with your help and that of the entire football community we believe we can achieve that.

There are many charities that perform excellent work and support for many different issues and causes all across the globe, but whilst we haven’t had exposure to this disease ourselves, or within our families, it isn’t hard to see the devastating affect that having your son or daughter, grand-child, niece or nephew, brother or sister being diagnosed with cancer can have. The harsh reality is that often parents are forced leave their jobs in order to care for their child. The Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund works tirelessly to make a positive difference to the lives of children suffering from cancer or leukaemia by offering practical, financial and emotional support to the whole family as well as providing specialist equipment to hospitals. They offer care grants to those who are incapable of affording basic needs such as paying bills, buying food or even being unable to foot the cost of travelling to hospitals in order for their child to get the life-saving treatment they need. To date, over a thousand families have been supported in this way through either one off payments or ongoing grants. Furthermore, week long respite breaks are a major part of the LennoxCCFs offering by giving families some well needed time away from the struggle of everyday life and to just be a 'normal' family is vital to the welbeing of the entire family.

We understand that donating to any cause is very worthy, but donating to LennoxCCF has the potential to save a childs life who hasnt even had the chance to start experience it.

And so to our challenge. Starting on the 5th of May we will be walking 180 miles over six days from Barnsley FC to Fulham FC via ten other clubs, including the oldest football club in the world (Sheffield FC) and the oldest football league club (Notts County FC), arriving at Craven Cottage in time for the final game of the 2013-2014 premier league season at 2pm on the 11th of May. You may be wondering why we're walking to Fulham. Well, we've chosen Fulham because it is one of the few genuinely historic stadiums left in English football and the club itself has a great reputation for being family orientated and closely linked with the local community.
