Story
On the 30th Jan 2011, I'm taking on the Tough Guy Challenge to raise money for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care charity. The challenge claims to be the world's most demanding one-day survival ordeal.
Taking place at the end of January, often in freezing winter conditions, the Tough Guy race is staged over a course of between seven and eight miles (about 12 kilometres). It starts with a 10km run followed by an extreme assault course. The organizers claim that running the course involves risking barbed wire, cuts, scrapes, burns, dehydration, hypothermia, acrophobia, claustrophobia, electric shocks, sprains, twists, joint dislocation and broken bones. I have signed a death warrant for this challenge.
Here's a taster video of what it's about - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Get3RERJrbM
To make the challenge a little more "interesting" and to tempt more donations, I'll be doing it in fancy dress.
Cherry Lodge is a small charity with little guaranteed donations and volunteers striving to keep it running. Every penny really does go towards helping the charity support people living with cancer, their carers and families.
I've already paid for entry, so all proceeds go directly to Cherry Lodge.
